Support advanced students’ social-emotional needs through discussion of short stories and media, poetry, speeches, essays, and biographies. Using the same critical thinking ladder framework as the popular Jacob’s Ladder books, these high interest readings, integrate reading comprehension and analysis skills with affective and social-emotional needs. Students will apply themes, characters, and lessons from texts to their own lives. New ladders were designed for this series and deal with relevant themes of empathy, dealing with adversity and challenge, risk and resilience, achievement motivation, and multiple perspectives.
